KATHMANDU, July 27: Independent lawmaker Amresh Kumar Singh has signed the Rastriya Swatantra Party's (RSP) petition demanding the release of party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane.
Since mid-June, RSP has been running a nationwide signature campaign in support of Lamichhane, collecting thousands of signatures in places ranging from streets and college campuses to corporate offices and airports.
Singh visited the party’s central office on Sunday and expressed solidarity with the campaign by signing the petition.

Lamichhane is currently in custody at Bhairahawa Prison in connection with a cooperative fraud case. RSP has repeatedly claimed that the charges and his detention are politically motivated.
