A day earlier, President Ramchandra Paudel conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army on Seth at a special ceremony held at Shital Niwas, the President’s Office. Nepal and India have maintained a tradition since 1950 of conferring the honorary rank of general on each other’s army chiefs.
Also on Monday, General Sigdel held bilateral talks with Seth. The two discussed matters of mutual interest and ways to further strengthen military ties between Nepal and India. During the meeting, Seth also handed over military and medical equipment to the Nepali Army.
During his visit, Seth also visited the Pashupatinath Temple and offered prayers.
The Nepali Army said visits by senior military officials from friendly countries help further expand and deepen military relations between the two countries.
