Most injured in Tinkune protest discharged

Out of the 129 individuals injured during the March 28 (Chaitra 15) protest in Tinkune, Kathmandu, 125 have returned home after receiving treatment, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

KATHMANDU, April 10: Out of the 129 individuals injured during the March 28 (Chaitra 15) protest in Tinkune, Kathmandu, 125 have returned home after receiving treatment, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.



Hospitals admitted all 129 injured individuals following the protest. Medical teams provided minor treatment to 59 people, performed minor surgeries on 57, and conducted emergency surgeries on 13. Five people who underwent emergency surgeries are still under medical care—two at the National Trauma Center and one each at the Civil Service Hospital, Kathmandu Medical College Teaching Hospital, and B&B Hospital. The remaining patients have been discharged.

On Wednesday, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Health Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, and other officials visited the hospitals to check on the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.


The ministry stated that all hospitals are offering free treatment to the injured. It also requested hospitals to submit detailed documentation, including all expenses incurred, for reimbursement.
