KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who reached Tianjin earlier today to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, held a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Tianjin Guest House.
According to the Prime Minister’s Personal Secretariat, the two leaders held formal talks focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between Nepal and China.
Oli, Modi exchange greetings at Xi’s reception in Tianjin
Oli landed at Tianjin Binhai International Airport at 3:15 PM (local time) Saturday afternoon on a Himalaya Airlines flight, leading the Nepali delegation at the invitation of President Xi. He was welcomed by senior Chinese officials, Nepal’s Ambassador to China Dr. Bishnu Prasad Oli and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song.
Oli is leading Nepali delegation including First Lady Radhika Shakya, former Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament Purna Bahadur Khadka, Minister for Education, Science and Technology Raghuji Pant, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey, former minister and Prime Minister’s economic and development adviser Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, former minister and lawmaker Chhabilal Bishwakarma, as well as senior government officials
This year also marks the 10th anniversary of Nepal joining the SCO as a dialogue partner and the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and China.
