The department said initial investigation showed the statue of lord Krishna, clay pots and other artifacts found in the cave could be thousands of years old. A DoA team led by section officer Navaraj Adhikari reached the place and took the artifacts to Kathmandu for investigation. [break]
“Director General of DoA Bishnu Raj Karki informed over the phone that the artifacts found there were of Stone Age,” revealed Assistant Chief District Officer of Parbat Tulsi Sharma. “They have said the artifacts could be thousands of years old. Another team of specialists are coming here for excavation to launch further investigation,” Sharma added.
Sharma said the DoA has directed the District Administration Office to protect the site saying that the artifacts could be the oldest found through excavation in Nepal till now. “We have already written to the local police, VDC, locals and the land owner for security of the site as per the director general´s directive,” Sharma said.
There is an empty space occupying a circumference of 20 feet covered by stones a couple of meters below the ground level at the site. Locals from Baglung, Myagdi, Pokhara and other neighboring places thronged the site after the discovery. “We have started worshipping at the site believing it to be sacred,” said a local.
