KATHMANDU, Sept 3: A total of 113 Nepali nationals stranded in Kerung, China, due to the floods in Rasuwa are set to return to Nepal via the Tatopani border point.
According to the Nepali consul general in Lhasa, preparations are underway to bring the stranded Nepalis back to Nepal through Tatopani.
China to repatriate 125 Nepalis stranded in Kerung
More than 40 kilometers of road connecting the Rasuwagadhi border point were washed away by the floods, making it impossible for them to return through Rasuwagadhi. They will therefore be brought back through the alternative Tatopani crossing.
Around 3,500 Nepalis had traveled to China to visit Mount Kailash and Mansarovar before the floods. Most of them have already returned to Nepal, according to the consul general. However, around 700 to 800 Nepali tourists are still in the Kerung area.
Among those in Kerung, arrangements are being made to prioritize those who want to return home immediately. The process is being coordinated with Chinese police to facilitate their return through the Tatopani border point.
