KATHMANDU, Sept 18: As many as 677 transport workers remain unaccounted for following the Bhotekoshi floods, according to the Nepal Truck Transport Entrepreneurs Federation.
The federation disclosed the figure during a meeting held on Thursday under the coordination of Rajiv Pokharel, director general of the Department of Transport Management.

The floods have also left 515 trucks and containers missing, according to the federation.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development has formed a committee under the coordination of Director General Pokharel to assess the human and physical damage caused by the floods and prepare a report with recommendations on the basis for compensation.
The committee has been given 15 days to submit the report along with its recommendations.
The committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, the secretariat of the infrastructure development minister, transport entrepreneurs and transport workers’ unions. Rajendra Bikram Baniya, president of the Nepal Truck Transport Entrepreneurs Federation, and Badri Prasad Chaulagai, general secretary of the federation, are also members of the committee.
