KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The Nepali Army recovered one more body from the tunnel of the Rasuwa Bhotekoshi Hydropower Project at Ronga on Tuesday.
As search and rescue operations continue along the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli River in Rasuwa, the body was found during a drone search of the tunnel at the Ronga-based hydropower project. According to the Nepali Army’s Public Relations and Information Directorate, the joint rescue team comprised the Army’s Composite Quick Reaction Team and project representatives.
On Tuesday alone, 20 people were rescued by airlifting from various affected areas. So far, 4,040 people have been rescued using Nepali Army aircraft, including 3,757 Nepalis and 283 foreign nationals.
Excavation work of Myagdi Khola hydropower tunnel begins
A joint team is continuing search and rescue operations at the Langtang Hydropower Project. Meanwhile, the Army has installed four large pipes, each six meters long, to create a passage leading to the tunnel at the Chilime Hydropower Project.
To transport heavy equipment from Syaphrubesi to Chilime, a large boulder blocking the road was removed by blasting. There are still 95 meters to go to reach Major Rock, and efforts are underway to remove mudstone using winch machines and buckets. The joint team has entered 115 meters into the tunnel of the Chilime Hydropower Project.
At Upper Trishuli-1, a joint team including foreign rescuers is searching the main entrance tunnel up to a depth of about 400 meters. A team comprising Nepali Army and Armed Police Force personnel and project representatives has been deployed at the powerhouse and tunnel of Trishuli-3A.
The Nepali Army said no one was found in the office and residential areas of Trishuli-3B after excavators dug to a depth of about 23 feet.
