Community forest users who have arrived in the Capital from all parts of the country took part in the protest rally and staged a sit-in in front of the Constituent Assembly building at New Baneshwor.[break]
The protest rally was taken out to pressurise urging not to end the community-based forest system by amending the Act, said Chairperson of FECOFUN Apsara Chapagain.
She said that the amendment process that the government is working on should be cancelled as it puts ceiling on community forests, invites autocracy, ends priority given to communities, leads to government interference and goes against the concept of federalism.
Saying that the caretaker government Ccannot amend the act, Chapagain said that community forest users will launch stern protest programmes if the Act is amended.
