Nepal prepares to trade in Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan currencies

Nepal Rastra Bank is set to include Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan currencies in its list of convertible foreign currencies, as outlined in the monetary policy for FY 2025/26 unveiled by Governor Biswo Nath Poudel on Friday.

KATHMANDU, July 11: Nepal Rastra Bank is set to include Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan currencies in its list of convertible foreign currencies, as outlined in the monetary policy for FY 2025/26 unveiled by Governor Biswo Nath Poudel on Friday.

With this move, formal trade and financial transactions using the currencies of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will now be possible in Nepal, aiming to facilitate growing economic exchanges with these countries.
