KATHMANDU, April 26: Nepal Telecom (NT) is removing old base transceiver stations (BTSs) installed in Kathmandu Valley and replacing them with new ones from May 17, in a bid to enhance service quality.

This commitment was expressed by top brass of the state-run telecom company during a meeting with Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Poudel on Friday.[break]

Of the 502 BTSs in the valley, NT plans to replace 262 within next two months. “By October, we will address all problems related to service quality faced by our clients,” a statement issued by Matrika Poudel, press secretary of information and communications minister, has quoted NT officials as saying during the meeting.

The minister directed NT officials to keep their words and resolve problems faced by NT customers within October.
