SC dismisses Bhusal’s habeas corpus writ

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the habeas corpus writ filed by Kamal Bhusal, popularly known as Nicholas, and instead issued an order in the name of the Ministry of Home Affairs to investigate him on bail.



A joint bench of Justices Dr Nahakul Subedi and Nripadhwaj Niraula on Monday dismissed the writ petition filed by Nicholas seeking an order to release him from detention.

The order states that it is necessary to obtain bail or surety from him or to investigate him on bail in a manner that does not affect the credibility and effectiveness of the investigation against him, in accordance with the legal provisions including Section 15 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 2074 BS.


Bhusal was arrested by the police on charges of spreading rumors and making inflammatory statements in society.
