KATHMANDU, March 4: The Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation have opened a traveling exhibition titled “TOKYO Before/After” in Kathmandu, running from February 28 to March 18, to showcase Japanese culture and art to the Nepali public.
According to a press release, the official opening ceremony was held at 3:00 p.m. on February 27 at the Nepal Art Council Gallery, Babar Mahal. The exhibition has been open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., free of charge, except on March 2 and 5.
Beginner’s guide to street photography
The exhibition features around 80 photographs juxtaposing historical images of Tokyo from the 1930s and 1940s with contemporary works taken after 2010. The press release notes that the collection highlights Tokyo’s evolution in social, economic, and architectural terms, showing how the city has continuously transformed into a global megacity.
Visitors have the opportunity to experience the vision of Japanese photographers and gain a deeper understanding of Tokyo’s multifaceted urban landscape. The exhibition is designed to appeal to both photography enthusiasts and general audiences, according to the press release.
