Govt earns Rs 85.19 billion, spends Rs 46.30 billion in first month of FY 2082/83

KATHMANDU, Aug 17–In the first month of the current fiscal year 2082/83, the government earned Rs 85.19 billion while spending Rs 46.30 billion, according to the Financial Comptroller General Office.



The data shows that in the first month, revenue collection stood at 5.56 percent of the annual target, while expenditure reached 2.36 percent.


For the current fiscal year, the government has set a revenue target of Rs 1.533 trillion. By the end of the first month, tax revenue amounted to more than Rs 80.67 billion, which is 6.09 percent of the annual goal, while non-tax revenue reached Rs 3.79 billion, 2.46 percent of the target.

Similarly, the government collected Rs 420 million in foreign grants and Rs 309 million under other headings. This year, the government aims to raise Rs 1.325 trillion in tax revenue, Rs 154.41 billion in non-tax revenue, and Rs 53.44 billion in foreign grants.


Out of the total budget of Rs 1.964 trillion for this fiscal year, expenditure till the end of the first month stood at Rs 46.30 billion. Of the Rs 1.180 trillion allocated for recurrent expenditure, Rs 18.47 billion, or 1.56 percent, has been spent.


For capital expenditure, out of Rs 407.88 billion allocated, only Rs 726 million, or 0.18 percent, has been spent.


The largest spending in the first month was under the financial management heading. Out of Rs 375.24 billion allocated for this purpose, Rs 27.10 billion, or 7.22 percent, was spent by the end of the month.
